What Can You Do in the Next 15 Minutes to Get You Closer to Your Goals?

What can you do in the next 15 minutes that will take you closer to your goal?
One of the hardest things for me has been getting sidetracked with stuff that needs done, but it really isn't going to get me closer to my goals. It seems like I always have a gazillion things to do, but which one of them is really going to help me reach the goals in my life?
One thing I used to love to do and I am very good at is selling on eBay. I loved to buy at yard sales and sell the stuff on eBay. I loved taking pictures, writing the descriptions, uploading the auction and watch the bidding wars start and end!
I took pride in my auctions and to satisfy my personal best I put time into a lot of detail. I uploaded 10 pictures for 1 item, and a description about the slightest detail. I know that putting the extra detail in my auctions and more photos than most auctions had helped me to get higher bids, but I would have been better putting more items on in a shorter time.
I made a lot of money doing eBay, but it was a the expense of having a personal life, family time, time to devote to my personal development and life coaching business, etc. I did close up my eBay store at the request of my husband and my spiritual mentors.
I did not realize how consumed my life became with eBay and trying to make a living. It was not something that could bring in passive income and it got me totally off focus of my priorities and lifetime goals. If I accomplish my goals I will have permanent passive residual income and be able to leave a legacy for my grandchildren which is important to me.

A Leader Learns To Set Priorities

One thing you must learn to do if you want to succeed at anything in life is figure out what is important to you and set priorities. You must come up with an action plan and then follow your plan.
If you don't set priorities and a plan of action to focus on them, you will lose sight of what is important and you will not get the important things done.
You must plan your day based on your priorities and work your plan. Of course there will be times that things will happen to get you off track, but you must get refocused and get back on track.
You need to take a few minutes and put your priorities on paper. Set goals based on the priorities in your life.
You should take your #1 priority and plan your day to focus on that first. Then do the same with your other priorities. If you come an with an action plan you will get more done.
Even if you put the priority events on your calendar and make a list of things to do daily, it won't do you any good unless you take action. Nothing happens without doing something.
What is your most important priority? What can you do in the next 15 minutes to help you get it accomplished? 15 minutes does not seem like alot of time, but sometimes I can get more done in 15 minutes of focused intent than I will get done in 2 hours of unplanned action.
Set Priorities - Make a plan - Follow your plan.

Law of Attraction - Visualize With a Dreamboard

One of the most important things you can do to quick start your success is to study and learn the law of attraction and visualize whatever it is you want in life.
How many times have I told myself I want to sit down and take the "dreams" I have bookmarked and make into a slide show and make a video of them with music and affirmations to watch them everyday? An innovative marketer came out with a program to make such a thing. It is called "mind movies."
I thought of doing it several times, and got it started but as of right now it is not finished yet, but it is on my priority list. Meanwhile I watch a few videos on YouTube that people created with their dreams. They are called "mind movies."
I have been collecting pictures for years. I get brochures at:
  • Home Shows
  • Car Shows
  • Boat Shows
  • RV Shows
  • Sportsman Shows
  • Brochures of Jewelry
  • Pics from magazines (Robb Report, Luxury Homes, etc)
I have a briefcase of stuff I collected over the last 20 years. We got our team together and had a pot luck dinner. We told them to bring their collection of dreams.
After lunch we put all the brochures on the tables and told them to start cutting out the things they want. We supplied poster board and every couple had a blast making their dream board!
We told them to focus on several areas of their life: Success, Health, Wealth, Friends, Dream Homes, Toys, Etc.
We had so much fun making our dream boards! Everyone was so excited when they got done!
A great leader once said "You don't get what you want. You get what you picture."
Unless you keep what you want in front of you, you will not get it.
Why not plan to make a dreamboard this week?

Bible Verse a Day to Get Focused and Empowered

A Bible verse a day?
How do Christian leaders start their day to get focused and empowered? They start their day by having a quiet time of reflection and reading the Bible.
Don't forget to read your Bible, even if you only read one verse a day. Even 1 verse a day will get you through 365 verses. That's more than most people read. I find that even reading 1 verse a day will get your day started off on a better track than if you don't read it at all.
Sometimes my plan is to read a verse or two and before I know it I have read several chapters, just because I couldn't put it down. There is a lot of good stuff in there, and the more you read it, the more you will want to read more.
I like to read the Bible that has the words of Jesus in red. If I'm in a hurry, I will read His words. It's like He is speaking to me. It always seems that no matter what I am going through at the time, that what I am reading that day will apply to me.
You can also find some Bible verses in many Christin books. I often read some books by one of my favorite Christian authors, Joyce Meyer. I heard her say she often puts Bible verses in all her books because she knows most people don't read the Bible and at least they will get some of God's Word in them when they are reading her books.
Also you can buy a calendar with a verse a day on it. First thing in the morning reflect on the new verse of the day as you flip your page. I also read the current verse before I flip to the next page. That's 2 verses first thing in the morning!
Why not start a new habit by reading at least 1 verse a day from the Bible? If you find it doesn't make a difference in your life, you can quit.

A Personal Development Program For a Leader Or Life Coach Is Not an Option

A personal development program for a leader or life coach is not an option.
If you want be a leader, a life coach or a mentor to someone then you must be involved with a personal development system. How can you lead others if you let your own brain or leadership skills get stagnate?
The personal development system I am personally involved with has the minimum requirements as follows:
1. Listen to at least 2 CDs a week.
2. Read a leadership development book at least 15 minutes a day.
3. Attend a leadership development training seminar monthly.
Of course, you don't have to do everything, but if you really want grow this is what you need to do.
Would you go to a doctor that does not keep up with ongoing developments in health care? I don't think so!
What about the mechanic that bought his tools five years ago and never picked up a new auto mechanic manual since then? He would be out of business quickly. My sister is a hairstylist and she gets DVD's on a regular basis to keep up on the current trends in hair styles.
You have to stay involved with the latest trends in your field and that includes personal development and leadership training.
If you are looking for a life coach, ask them this important question!
What personal development system are you personally getting your training from?
If they can't give you an immediate answer and tell you about it and who they are learning from.... RUN!

Why Should You Associate With Like-Minded People at Least Once a Month?

One thing I heard all the time growing up is "be careful who you hang around with."
Why? You become like the people you associate with.
We are exposed to so much negative that we really do need to get with a positive team of winners to get refueled.
No matter how much you want to accomplish, no matter how big your dreams are, no matter how motivated you think you are, you still need to get with a crowd of excited, fired-up people who are hungry to learn and keep growing.
My husband and I have been involved in an on-going leadership development program since 1991. We were young when we started our first company, a water treatment dealership. We had no clue about business or how to deal with people. We struggled but we were successful. One thing I learned early in business was I could learn a lot from the other dealers.
We went to every seminar the company had, every dealer meeting, sales meeting, management school, etc. I even went to every service meeting and learned how to work on water softeners so I had more knowledge talking to customers. At the breaks and lunches, I always drilled people for their marketing ideas, service policies, advertising strategies, etc.
When we had a opportunity to start going to theses monthly leadership seminars, I jumped at the chance. I looked forward to every seminar. I was anxious to learn from other leaders and hang out with excited people.
After dealing with customers and employees all month, it was a breath of fresh air to get in a positive atmosphere.

Give Up What You Love Doing If It Is Not Getting You Closer to Your Goals

You may have to give up something you love doing if it is not getting you closer to your goals. One thing I use to love to do and I am very good at is selling on eBay. I loved buying at yard sales and thrift shops and selling the stuff on eBay. I loved taking pictures, writing the descriptions, uploading the auction and watch the bidding wars start and end!
I took pride in my auctions and to satisfy my personal best I put time into a lot of detail. I uploaded 10 pictures for 1 item, and a description about the slightest detail.
I made a lot of money doing eBay, but it was a the expense of having a personal life, family time, time to devote to my personal development and life coaching business, etc. I also had a very disorganized house, messy and cluttered, but clean. People kept telling me it was not worth it, but to me it was at the time.
Finally I closed up my eBay store because we were doing a total remodel on our house for at least 6 months, inside and out. After we moved back into the house, I had no desire to get started again.
Maybe after I get closer to other goals and have more free time, I might list a few high ticket items now and then, but not spend hours and hours of my life doing it.
Why am I telling you all this? Because I was making money, I thought I was doing good. When I looked at my goals, I was way off. I was doing what I wanted to do, not what I needed to do.
Now before I do something, I ask myself:
What can you do in the next 15 minutes that will take you closer to your goal?

The Biggest Mistakes I Made On My Own

Personal mentorship is probably one of the greatest benefits from being involved in a personal development program.
I know so many mistakes I have made would not have been made if I thought to pick up the phone and call someone and ask for their advice. Mistakes that have cost me thousands in business.
We can call our mentor who is a very successful entrepreneur, and counsel with him about almost anything in almost every area of our lives. We have discussed so many things over the years about business, family, spiritual, relationship, financial, etc. issues.
We have gone to them after we made some big mistakes and they helped us, but the question is always, why didn't you come to us before you did this. I guess we were being stupid.
Why make major decisions on your own when you have somebody that really cares about you, and has your best interest in mind?
If they can't give us an answer they are quick to tell us that, and they will go to their mentor and get their advice and get it back to us.
How many people will ever have this kind of opportunity in their entire life? Not many!
Another thing we did already was to ask their opinion and still go with our first decision, and once again it cost it a lot of money, because we didn't listen to their advice.
We have finally learned our lesson and we do not make any major decision without at least a phone call to one of our mentors first.
One thing that is important is we know who their mentors are. It is important that your mentor has a mentor. If they are accountable to someone, they will help you make better decisions.
I have heard that it is better to learn from other people's mistakes, rather than learn from your own. I believe that advice is so true.

A Personal Mentor Is Only A Phone Call Away

A friend sees you as you are, and does not try to change you, but a mentor loves you too much to let you stay the same.
When my husband had a heart attack in 1998, the first calls I made were to our mentors. I knew they would pray for us, and help us make important decisions.
I actually went to a leadership training seminar the day after his heart attack. I figured I could sit and cry all alone all day or at the hospital, or I could go to the seminar and stay focused on what I needed to do, since I would be the only one making money for awhile. It helped to be around my mentors and people that loved us. After the seminar, several people went with me to the hospital and hung out with me.
We have been through some pretty severe financial struggles and we could always count on sound advice from our mentors. We could also count on them telling us to get off the bench and get on the team. They don't mince words.
We could either look at all that went wrong with our life, or get back on track with their help. One thing they never did was join our pity party. They always got us refocused on our dreams. They never felt sorry for us and paid for our next seminar, but we knew they were expecting us to be there. We did what it took to never miss anything, even when we were short on income. They didn't take our excuses and we don't take other's excuses.

You Can't Work Hard Enough to Overcome a Negative Attitude

You can't work hard enough to overcome a negative attitude. No matter how hard you try, you can not maintain a positive attitude if you are constantly hanging around people with a negative attitude.
I personally had to quit hanging around my family and friends as much as I was, because I was constantly being told I was a dreamer and I live in a fantasy world, etc. I heard the negative from them on a constant basis, and I could not wait to get to a weekly workshop or a monthly seminar with like-minded people to get around my mentors.
It has been said that if you list the incomes of the 5 people you associate with and average them together, you will be able to figure out how much your income is.
Personally, I would like to hang around 5 millionaire mentors on a consistent basis, because they think differently than me, and I would not mind having their income, either. When I am around my mentors, they encourage me and help me raise the bar. They tell me I can have whatever I want in life if I am willing to help other people. I have several mentors that are millionaires. I am learning from the best in all areas of my life.
I have different personal mentors for leadership development and community building, for spiritual growth, and for internet marketing and mentoring.
You can't rely on one personal mentor because you need an expert in a certain area of your life that you are trying to improve.
Whatever you do, get a personal mentor that encourages you and has a great smile! A positive attitude goes a long way. As I said before, you can't work hard enough to overcome a negative attitude! Keep positive people foremost in your lives!
The sky is the limit. I have super-sized dreams because my mentors have super-sized leadership and coaching ability.
Sorry, but I can't afford to hang out with the 95% crowd any longer. I need the constant positive energy from my mentors.

What Happens When You Miss a Leadership Seminar?

When you miss a seminar, you will never know what you missed.

When you miss a seminar, you will never know what you missed.
Miss the first seminar, you have a cold.
Miss the second seminar, you have pneumonia.
Miss the third, you're dead.
You probably will have lost all interest by then.
No matter how fired up you are about your dreams and goals, this formula holds true.
A good example is from personal experience.
When our football superstar son went to college, we made a commitment that we would never miss a football game. Up until that point in our lives, we never missed a monthly seminar with our leadership development team for any reason.
Of course, college football starts in September, so we missed September, October, and November. Then my husband wanted to go deer hunting with the boys, so he missed December.
Fortunately, for us there was a large leadership seminar in January, where we could get fired up and refocused on our goals and dreams. We attended all the seminars until September, and restarted again at another January seminar.
We did this for 4 years. By the end of the 4 years, we were not as committed as we should have been. Since we missed so many seminars, it was easier to make excuses to miss more. Also, we had a harder time getting people on our team to the seminars, because we were not going to them.
We will never know how much it cost our business growth because we missed the seminars. However, if I had it to do over again, I still would have missed all the seminars to be able to watch my son play college football. They grow up so fast. At least I have those memories.
Unfortunately we did miss midget baseball and football games, high school football games and track events, and even state track events. We do regret that, and if we had it to do over we would not have missed anything that was important to our kids. They grow up too fast. Having said all that, I still encourage everyone to get to whatever seminars they can. Keep things in perspective. I don't think a t-ball game is as important as a college football game that your son spent his whole life striving to become the best athlete possible.
We are so proud of both of our children and their families. Unfortunately children spell Love as T-I-M-E. Our kids did not feel they got enough of our time, and they are right.
When I missed the seminars, I missed the seminars. I sat at football games wondering what I was missing. I wondered what I might have heard that could have moved us forward in our businesses. I missed the crowd of excited people all heading in the same direction. I don't know if I missed that "one thing" that I needed to hear, but at least I did not miss the final four seasons of my son's football career. He was an exceptional athlete, and expecting to go to the NFL, but he hurt his knee playing basketball 1 month before try-outs.
His dream of being a football player is over, but I still have the rest of my life to become the best person I can be and help others to do the same. I am back on track and more fired up than ever about our leadership team. I never plan to miss another miss a seminar, but emergencies do come up. As far as other people, we can empathize with people and let them know how we would decide what to do, but they will have to make their own decisions.

Why You Should Have A Personal Mentor And How To Choose One

If you want to avoid making some serious mistakes you need to have a personal mentor that has been there, done that! I have made so many decisions on my own before I had a mentor that cost me millions of dollars over the years.
My husband and I have been personally coached and mentored by several very successful entrepreneurs since we got involved in a personal development and leadership program in 1991. We have been given homework assignments, goals to wok towards, financial advice, books to read, advice to build out network business and even marriage counseling.
Now I am being mentored by my internet marketing coach as well. He is a very successful online entrepreneur and he astounds me with all the information he is teaching me. I have learned more from him in a few months than I learned studying internet marketing guru courses for several years. We also have spiritual mentors as well that pray with us and we also counsel with them about marriage, life, spiritual growth, etc.
It is imperative to have a mentor to bounce off ideas or to ask their advice before you make decisions. However, you need to make sure they are qualified to mentor you. For example, I would not take financial advice from a broke person. We are mentored by millionaires that have the proven expertise to create wealth.
If I was going to get a fitness trainer or a weight loss coach, I would not hire someone overweight or out of shape. I would want to get my advice from someone who has already accomplished what I am paying them to teach me to do.
You need to make sure you like the person and will be willing to listen to them. Before I agree to mentor anyone I want to know they are serious about changing their situation. Insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. I want to make sure my clients are going to get results. If they won't take action they won't get results.

Why You Should Take Your Mentor To Lunch

If you want to be successful, you must take advice from people that are where you want to be in life. We have different personal mentors for different areas of our life. We appreciate them and do not waste their time because we know they are busy people. They are making enough passive residual income from their businesses that they wouldn't have to help us, but they want to.
We will make time for our mentors at their convenience. If we are meeting them for a meal somewhere we normally will pick up the check. Why would we do that? They obviously have a bigger wad of cash in their pocket than we live on a month, but we appreciate their time and their advice.
I once heard a millionaire say if he lost everything he would find the richest person he knows and take him to lunch and pay for his meal. The self-made millionaires have a wealth of knowledge they can share with you. They have developed a different way to think than the poverty thinking. If you don't learn to think differently, you will stay broke.
You may have heard "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer." It is true because the rich have different habits and different thinking. All the successful people I know value their time more than a broke person. Most of them do not watch TV, read the news, etc. They put their time to better use. One of my mentors said if something bad happens, there will be plenty of people that will let him know.
The rich successful self-made millionaires have personal mentors that make more money than they do. If they need a mentor for a certain area in their life, they hire the best. It cuts the learning curve if you learn from someone who excels in the area you want to learn in.
So if you want to learn from a rich man, take him to lunch. Always take a notebook or tablet with you. Take notes!

Respect Your Mentor and Earn Their Respect

Get on your mentors schedule whenever possible!

We have several different personal mentors for different areas of our lives. With our personal development and leadership business, we counsel with our mentors on a regular basis. The information is invaluable and helps us make decisions that will take our business to the next level.
We have counseled with our leadership mentors on airplanes and cruise ships, on buses, at diners, in their homes and vacation homes and at our home. We have met before or after monthly leadership seminars, and sometimes even during a quick break. We have also counseled with them by phone if we could not get together in person.
We have had the privilege to dine with our mentors on several special occasions. We have great memories of special times celebrating many anniversaries. It is great having a nice meal in a relaxing atmosphere talking to our mentors about our business and personal lives.
They care about us and we love and respect them. They don't just give their time away. Sometimes you have to earn it. If we wouldn't have qualified for some of the trips and promotions that they ran, we would have missed valuable counseling time with our mentors.
They are where we want to be, and it stands to reason that if we take their advice and apply it, we will be able to have what they have. Always get to any seminars or workshops that you possibly can. If your mentor is running a promotion, qualify for it, so you can spend quality time with them. We always go to every leadership seminar which is available to us.

A Mentor Helps You Stay Focused

If you are accountable to a mentor you will get more done.

A personal Mentor helps you stay focused. One nice thing about counseling with a mentor on a weekly or a monthly basis is you will be accountable to someone on a regular basis. If you are accountable to a mentor you will get more done.
They will help you set goals and then map out a plan to hit those goals. You will have to tell them what you are going to do. Then they will say that's great, but what will you really do? Then you make a more realistic goal of what you will do.
If you know that you are going to have to tell them what you actually got done when you see them again, you will strive to get more done. Even, if you let a whole month go by, you will try to get it done the week before you are going to be counseling with them.
I find it is easier to get people to do things if we meet with them on a weekly basis and give them smaller goals than if we meet on a monthly basis and give them larger goals. Sometimes getting them to commit to something on a daily basis is even better, especially if they have trouble staying focused.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. I don't plan to eat an elephant, but many times projects seem like they are elephants. So you need to break them down into more reasonable pieces. Tell your mentor what those pieces are going to be and ask them to make you accountable.
If you are accountable to a mentor you will get more done.

Why Continuing Education Is Important

Why continuing education?
Would you go to a doctor, mechanic, or even a hairdresser that does not keep up on what's new in their field? I don't think so.
My sister is a hairdresser. She gets magazines and books all the time with the latest hairstyles and new techniques. She reads books all the time to improve her people skills, marketing, etc. She even gets DVDs sent to her monthly so she can watch the new haircuts being done.
She does not look at the expense. She considers everything an investment. An investment in herself and in her business. She said one haircut or one new customer will more than pay for a CD or DVD, or even a book.
I consider the personal development and leadership program we are involved in the best investment I can possibly make in myself. I also get CDs and other books every month for spiritual growth from other sources.
I grab up all the great books at yard sales that I can find that are on our top 50 book list or a book that I've already read that helped me. I loan a good book to someone who needs it and when they bring it back they ask for another one that I would recommend.
I'm learning all the time and it doesn't cost me a lot. Look at the price of college tuition or even 1 textbook.
I never went to college, but I tell people I am attending Leadership University whenever I want to. All I have to do is put in a cd and I'm there! I always have a CD playing in the kitchen first thing in the morning and every time I am in the kitchen.
Whenever I am in the car I turn my car into a rolling university on wheels by putting a CD. How much commuting time do you have everyday? Turn off the radio and put in a great CD by a proven leader or motivational speaker. You might just hear something that will make a difference in your life that day.
2 CDs a day will help keep the negative attitude away.

2 CDS a Day for Personal Development and Leadership Training

2 cds a day will help keep the negative attitude away.

Why leadership personal development program and seminars? Why have my husband & I have been involved with an ongoing personal development program since 1991? Our program consists of 2 CDs a week and a book of the month.
Let me start of by telling you how I first got hooked on audio information.
We were young when we started our first company in 1981, a water treatment dealership. We had no clue about business or how to deal with people, but we were determined to never have to work for someone. We had big dreams and we knew having a job would never get us what we wanted.
We hired an employee who loaned me a set of 12 tapes by Tom Hopkins. "The Art of Selling."
My sales went through the roof. I had a confidence I never had before. I learned how to handle objections and close sales.
I learned so much from those tapes. I wanted to learn more. I paid for those tapes and started my own search for more tapes, which led me to Dennis Waitley, Zig Ziglar, Norman Vincent Peale, Earl Nightingale and other motivational speakers. I listened to my tapes every morning. Whenever I was in the kitchen or my car my tape player was on.
We were introduced to a personal development program a few years later, and I became so excited. We got 2 tapes (CDs were not born yet) and a book of the month.
This was exactly what I needed. I didn't have to waste my time trying to figure out what to buy next. It came automatically. I was never disappointed with the speakers, subjects or quality of the material!
I really started growing and became much better in all areas of my life. I could not wait to get our new tapes. Now we are on a CD program. We can't wait to get our cds. I run in from the mailbox and put them in, hungry for more information.
I listen to them all right away, and then I listen to them over and over again!
Some people say they can't afford the CDs or the personal development program. I say, can you afford not to have it? I feel it is the best investment I could possibly make in myself. I am worth it!

Can You Afford Not To Read?

Don't tell me you can't afford a book a month.

You can't afford not to read everyday! Reading keeps your mind sharp, and if you are reading good books it will change your thinking. If you change your thinking, you will change your attitude. If you change your attitude, you will change your whole perspective on life. You will see that you can be the best person God created you to be. You will get excited about life and helping people to become the best that they can be.
You will start to share what you are reading with others and soon they will do the same. If enough people start reading and changing their thinking, we can change the culture in America.
I think it is so sad that our young people tend not to read anymore. I couldn't wait to give my grown sons a copy of a New York Best Seller, Launching a Leadership Revolution by Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady.
I gave it to them at different times when the other wasn't around. The response was the same. They both gave it right back and said they don't read books. I told them it would make a difference in their life, but they still gave it back.
How sad! Reading is one of the most important things you can do that does not cost you anything and can change your life. If you want to step out of the crowd, develop a habit of reading for 15 minutes a day.
You will see changes in your attitude and others will see changes in you. You will gain more confidence and that will give you a better self-esteem.
So take the first step and pick up a good book.

Read With A Highlighter and Intent To Learn

Have a highlighter and notebook with you when you read.

I don't think it is as important to fly through books just to say you read them, as it is to actually study or digest what you are reading. I can honestly say that when I read just to get through something, it did not mean as much as when I read with an intent to learn and take time to get a nugget or something to digest or meditate on.
There was a time in my life when I tried to read so many chapters a day in the Bible, just so I could stand up when they asked at church who read through the Bible last year.
One year I stood up and I was the only teen who read the Bible, and the youth Pastor gave me $20.00. I was fired up! To a teen that babysat to make extra money, that was a fortune at the time! I guess it was an incentive to get others to read their Bible that year.
That was when I was in 8th grade and it was still cool (and allowed) to carry a Bible to school. I was really on fire for the Lord, (I cooled off over the years, but I'm on fire once again) and really enjoyed reading my Bible. Any free minute I got, I grabbed my highlighter and my Bible and read it. I was really excited about it then, and not the least bit ashamed to carry it. The guy I had a crush on at church in my youth group also carried his Bible to school.
I remember having a goal that year to highlight at least something in every chapter that really spoke to me or I felt was really important. After that, I started reading other books with a highlighter and did the same thing. Funny, nobody told me to do it. It was self-learned. I guess I was pretty smart way back when.Wow, that brings back some awesome memories of my youth group days at church. We had a lot of fun.
If you read with an intent to learn something, you will learn something. The more you read, the more you will want to read. Whenever I have gone on a trip with my leadership team, I have noticed that the leaders read at the airport, laying on the beach in the sun, and even sitting in the lounges in Alaska on a cruise. If they aren't reading, they are talking about the book they are reading.

Leaders Read at Least 15 Minutes a Day

If you want to be a leader, you must get a good book and start a new habit of daily reading!

If you want to be a leader, you must get a good book and start a new habit of daily reading!
All readers are not leaders, but all leaders are readers.
If you read any biography of a successful person or leader, you will almost always find that they talked about the books that they read. Some by candlelight, some by kerosene lamps, fireplaces, flashlights, or daylight.
It is without a doubt that one of the keys to their success is most definitely reading.
We suggest reading a good book at least 15 minutes a day.
Do you realize if you read 15 minutes a day for 1 year, that is 5475 minutes.
Break that down and that is 91 hours or almost 4 days of your life.
What if you spend 30 minutes reading a day?
That would be 10,950 minutes in one year, which is equivalent to 182 hours, or almost 8 days.
If the average person watches 8 hours a day, and decides to read instead, that would be 121.66 days in a year or 17.38 weeks in one year.
Think about that the next time you grab the remote!
Imagine if you spent that much time reading the right books to change your thinking as the successful leaders have done!
We disconnected our TV to do some remodeling in January 2007 and we still have not connected it.
The remodeling took longer than we thought it would, and we found out that we could actually live without it.
We turned our TV time into cd and/or reading time and have seen a great improvement in our personal and spiritual growth. I hope after reading this you will decide to spend more time reading.

Smile - You Might Make Someone's Day

It doesn't cost you anything to give it away so SMILE and make somebody's day.

One thing that all great leaders have is a big smile. My mentors are always smiling! I have never seen them down! Some might say "if I had their income, I would be smiling too." While that may be true, I know their smiles are genuine because of the leadership skills they have acquired through their quest to become leaders.
Their personal goal was to be the best person they could be and they plugged into a personal development and leadership training program on an ongoing basis. They continually seek to grow in all areas of their lives. You can tell they are genuine! They are the same people whether they are on the stage in front of a big crowd or sitting with you around a campfire.
Anytime we get with our mentors, you can tell they truly love people. You can tell they really do care about you and want to help you become the best you can be. They want us to be able to have the awesome lifestyle they have!
Do you know someone who is always happy to see you? When you think of them, I know you can picture them with a smile on their face!
My grandma was a great mentor and she was always smiling. She laughed a lot too! We loved watching funny movies with her just to hear her laugh. Sometimes we would laugh more at hearing her laugh than at the movie. Babies love to smile! What we can learn from the youngest to the oldest!
I personally have made a decision to give a big smile to everyone I meet and if they smile back, I say hi to them.
You would be surprised at how many people respond with a smile and an encouraging word back. Of course you still get the grumps who look like they should have stayed at home that day, but I think there are more smilers than grumps.
First, make a goal to give some big smiles away today!

Leaders Are Efficient, Not Just Busy

Are you busy or efficient?

Busyness does not make you money, efficiency does. Successful people who have shortened their work week and still have a decent lifestyle have learned to be efficient with their time. They know if they delegate menial tasks or even outsource them to freelancers, maids, landscapers, or even personal shoppers, they can focus on what is important, including time with their family.
One of our mentors often makes a comment, you don't have a money problem, you have a time problem. If you learn to use your time efficiently and focus on what will make you money, you will no longer have a money problem. He also has said a bag of money will solve any problem.
He doesn't get stressed out over anything. He just dials 7 numbers and whatever it was will be taken care of.
Did you ever notice successful people stay younger looking than stressed out broke people.
That is because they don't have to worry about every little thing that happens. They have the resources to take care of whatever comes their way.
It is so sad, but it is true that 95% of the people make 5% of the wealth? Why? Because they think differently than we do.
I used to work so hard and yet it seemed like I had a hole in my wallet. Where did my money go? I decided to start learning from the leaders in the 5%. Now I am excited because I am making money, learning to work smarter, not harder, and I have the best mentors in the world for different areas in my life.
First, think of what you would like to achieve.

Are You a Thermostat Or Are You A Thermometer?

Your attitude determines the attitude of everyone around you.

Are you like a thermostat or thermometer in your home or business? Your attitude determines the attitude of everyone around you. Remember the saying, "If mamma ain't happy, then nobody's happy?" It's true!
It is much better to be a thermostat than a thermometer.
Most homes have a small unit on the wall which contains two things: thermostat and thermometer. A thermostat changes the temperature in the room. A thermometer measures the temperature in the room.
A thermostat determines the atmosphere of the whole house. It doesn't know if it is hot or cold, it just knows what it is supposed to do. It recognizes the temperature and makes adjustments when it needs to.
A thermometer measures the current temperature of the atmosphere.
Are you a thermostat or are you a thermometer in your home or business?
If you are a thermometer, you will reflect the attitude of the room no matter what the attitude is. If other people are happy, you are happy. But if they are sad, you will be sad.
If you are a thermostat and the attitude of the room is happy, you reflect the happiness and no adjustment is needed. But if the attitude of the room is sad, you are still happy and because you are happy, other people will start to get happy.
Happiness is contagious, so make someone's day and give them a big smile and you just might become a thermostat in their life that day.
If you want to be a thermostat, I would suggest starting your day off with a devotional and a prayer to get your day started right.
What can you do to help your family get started towards having a great day and maybe be a thermostat as well?
1. Make sure you wake them up with a smile on your face.
2. Give them a healthy breakfast.
3. Teach them to be organized.
4. Pray with them and thank God for your food before meals.
5. Encourage them and let them know you believe in them.
6. Give them a hug and tell them you love them before you or they walk out the door!
I strive to never leave any of my family, friends, and my team without at least giving them a hug and letting them know I love them or appreciate them. You never know when it might be the last time you will be seeing them.
First, give someone you love a hug and tell them you love them!

Do What You Love And You Will Never Have A J-O-B

If you find something you love to do, you will love doing it, and it won't seem like a J-O-B.

If you find something you love to do, you will love doing it, and it won't seem like a J-O-B. There are thousands of jobs. If you are doing something you hate, then reevaluate and get something you will at least like.
If you don't know how to pick a job, then think about what you really enjoy doing. What are you good at? What hobbies do you have? Do you like to work with people?
One thing I love about coaching people is I am able to spend time with them, help them set goals, keep them accountable, and see them improve their lives.
As a result of the personal development program we use, we have seen so many people become better husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, etc. We have seen them get a better self-image and step out and take risks.
How many people today at work said TGIF! They will party or watch TV all weekend and then the they start dreading work on Sunday afternoon, and let it ruin the rest of their day. How many people drive thru traffic lights on their way to work because they are in such a rut, they just drive and don't pay attention. Isn't it sad that if you take the same route to work everyday you almost know which cars you will be passing.
Start a business or change jobs. Do something to get yourself out of the daily grind or rut you may be in. Get involved with a personal development program and strive to become the best person you can be!
I know just since I have been writing on a regular basis, I have been feeling so much better about myself. My confidence has gone way up and I am looking forward to presenting leadership training at seminars. I personally believe that there is no one that could not benefit from the personal development program. I am anxious to help thousands of people.
First, make a list of things you feel you are good at.
Next, after figuring out what you are good at and if you would like to get paid to do what you love to do, learn how you can find a mentor, participate in a leadership development program or start an online business and make money using the power of the internet while you sleep.

Leaders Have An Attitude Of Gratitude!

If you are thankful for what you have, God will give you more!

Be thankful for what you've got, God will bless you and give you more!
One thing I have noticed with every single leader and mentor that I have come in contact with is they all have an attitude of gratitude!
They are thankful to God for giving them an opportunity to become leaders and help people. They are thankful to their team because they know without them, they would not be where they are at today. They are thankful to their families for supporting them and believing in them. They are thankful for their mentors.
They don't forget where they came from! They know it can all be taken away. They are humble. They don't look down on people. They are big givers. They give encouragement everywhere they go.
They thank people all the time for every little thing and they give big tips. Even if we just have a glass of water and a piece of pie, they leave big tips because we took up a table that somebody else could have used.
They do random acts of kindness and tell people to pay it forward. Wasn't that a great movie? Everyone should watch that movie and put pay it forward into practice.
One thing I love to do is give stuff away on Freecycle. No matter how big or how small, or how used, someone is always grateful for free stuff. Don't throw perfectly good stuff away, Freecycle it! It only takes a minute and it could make someone's day.
I have heard it said when you let go of something, that gives God a chance to give you something even greater.
First, thank some people who have impacted your life. It only takes a minute to pick up the phone and call or drop a card in the mail.
Next, after reading about why you need to be thankful for what you've got, learn how you can find a mentor, participate in a personal development program or start an online business and make money while you sleep, visit Pam Eppinette

Take Baby Steps

One foot, then the other!
Baby Steps! Take One Step at a time! One foot, then the other!
One thing I am learning is to take baby steps. Do one thing, one step at a time. I used to jump into things with both feet and then I would be overwhelmed. If I would have just tested the waters first I could have saved time and money.
One example comes from our water treatment dealership. I was at a dealer meeting and they talked about a promotion to give away turkey platters with a free water test. I got so excited I ordered cases of turkey platters, did a mailer and waited for our phone to ring.
If I would have bought a few to try it out, I would have found that nobody wanted a turkey platter. The few people that did call for the free water test told me to keep my platter and give it to somebody else. I think I carried turkey platters in my trunk for a few years. Finally, one Christmas I wrapped them all up and gave them to everyone in the family that was old enough to have a turkey platter.
I still had plenty left and gave them as shower gifts with kitchen towels and other kitchen supplies wrapped with them. It turns out that most of the younger family members that didn't get a platter for Christmas, eventually ended up getting one for their bridal shower.
I'm sure many of you can think of things you have done without taking the time to check with a mentor.
First, think of some of the really dumb decisions you have made without thinking. If you had someone to talk to before you made the decision, would it have saved you time or money?
Next, after learning to take baby steps, learn how you can find a mentor, participate in a leadership development program or start an online business and make money while you sleep, visit Pam Eppinette. Leaders Have A Cause

Are you in business for money or do you have a cause?

Do you have a business mission? Do you have a why? An obnoxious dream? A burning passion that drives you?
Are you in business for money or do you have a business mission?
If you are in business just to get by day by day and barely be able to pay your bills, you won't be in business very long.
If you have a mission or a cause... maybe to change the world one person at a time... maybe to see families brought back together... marriages saved.... parents to spend time with their kids instead of dropping them off at an early age and letting others raise them... maybe to help abused women....
I could go on and on....
Ok, now if you are struggling to pay your own bills how are you going to be able to help a cause?
If you don't have a cause... something that really drives you, you won't have the fortitude to keep plugging away with the stress of business every single day.
It's ok to make money as long as you are doing something that is moral, legal, honest and can help other people.
Zig Ziglar said "If you help enough people get what they want, you will get everything that you want."
The late Ray Kroc (McDonalds) helped thousands of people get wealthy and in return he became very wealthy. So go ahead and help alot of people and find a cause that you are willing to fight for.
Let your business mission drive you and you will feel better about yourself and keep on moving towards your dreams.

Becoming a Leader - 4 Keys to Personal Growth

Everyone can be a leader with the right information, the right mentor, and the right association.

Becoming a leader is possible with the right information, the right mentor, and the right association. At some point in your life you may be called to be a leader whether that is in your home, your business, your church, your community, in a business or in your social groups. Will you be ready? In this article you will discover the 4 keys to personal growth which will help you be able to step up to the plate when you are asked to be a leader.
4 Keys To Personal Growth And Becoming A Leader
I believe the 4 keys to personal growth and to becoming a leader, and I am speaking from my own personal experience, is:
1. The books you read daily.
2. The information you listen to.
3. The mentor or life coach you are accountable to.
4. The groups you associate with.
I have had the pleasure of hearing Charlie Tremendous Jones speak at several leadership seminars. It never fails that he always said "you are the same today as you will be in five years except for two things, the people you meet and the books you read."
I have heard other leaders say you will be the same today in five years except for the books you read, the CDs you listen to and the people you associate with.
Remember when you were growing up when your mom told you to watch who you are hanging out with? If you hang out with bank robbers you will end up robbing a bank. If you hang out with successful, like-minded people you will have a better chance at becoming a successful person.
I have even heard if you hang out with millionaires, you will become a millionaire. While that may be true if you are being mentored by a millionaire that is able to teach you to do what they may be doing, it won't be true if they became millionaires in a way that they will not be able to teach you to do the same thing that helped them to create their wealth.
I have heard several leaders say that if you take the incomes from the 5 people you hang around with most and divide it by 5, you will average that income. Yikes! I I knew I needed to start hanging around with more successful people.
Having been involved in a personal development system for over 19 years, I know I am a much better person than if I would not have been. My life has been changed by the books I read, the CDs I listen to, and the successful mentors that I counsel with. I attend leadership seminars every chance I get. Just hanging out with like-minded people hungry for personal growth and leadership development fires me up.
I believe there is room for improvement for leadership in everyone, not just managers, company owners, and the President. Even the lowest person on the bottom of the corporate pyramid, students, housewives and great grandmothers deserve a chance to become the best they can be.
There is no age limit for personal growth. I believe even a child listening to CDs in the car with you while you drive will pick up some valuable principles that will help them in later years.
Remember garbage in... garbage out!
Wisdom in... wisdom out.
I believe even my 90 year-old grandmother was hungry to learn and she strived daily to became a better person even towards the final days of her life. She often listened to my CDs when we were driving in the car. She was always reading books (especially the Bible) and striving to become better.
I find that if you get in the habit of listening to your leadership CDs and reading at least 15 minutes a day, you will notice a difference when you miss taking the time to do so.
The best time to read is first thing in the morning and also right before you go to bed. If you read in the morning it can help you get a positive attitude to face the day. It is a good habit to put positive in your mind before you go to bed.
Becoming a leader will take some time, but it will not be difficult if you do the 4 keys to becoming a leader.
